Access is rarely the problem for crypto prop firms UK traders consider: 18 of the 19 firms that publish a country list accept UK residents, and Kraken Prop is the one that excludes the United Kingdom (along with Canada and India). The best UK picks are The5ers, the only firm in our census with a UK-registered operator; Breakout, which sells the same programme as Kraken Prop but does not exclude the UK and pays USDC on demand; and Velotrade, whose restricted list names only sanctioned jurisdictions.
What "accepts UK traders" means
A firm accepts UK traders when its terms let a UK resident buy an evaluation, hold a funded account and receive payouts. Most firms show this by leaving the UK off their restricted list rather than naming it as allowed. HyroTrader is an exception: its FAQ says UK traders can join, and it processes UK and EU card payments through Hyro Finance in Slovakia.
Upscale's "UK or EU embargo" clause can look alarming, but it refers to countries under UK or EU sanctions, not UK residents.
Regulation in the UK
Crypto prop firms are not FCA-authorised investment firms, because they sell fee-based evaluations on simulated accounts rather than handling client money. No firm we track claims FCA authorisation. Mubite states it does not offer investment services; FTMO says its traders use simulated capital only.
Without FCA authorisation there is no Financial Ombudsman route or compensation scheme if a payout is refused. A firm's own payout record carries the weight.
Use the FCA Warning List to check whether a website using a firm's name is a scam clone. Then judge the firm on its terms and published payouts: see are crypto prop firms legit.
Tax
UK tax writers generally treat prop firm payouts as income from a contract, reported through Self Assessment, rather than as capital gains. We found no HMRC guidance specific to prop payouts. Keep every invoice and payout record, and ask a UK accountant. More on crypto prop firm taxes.
Crypto prop firms UK traders can use
| Firm | UK status | UK link | Payout route |
|---|---|---|---|
| The5ers | Not restricted | Operator registered in England (12553363) | Rise, bank, crypto (3.5% fee) |
| HyroTrader | FAQ says UK can join | UK cards via Hyro Finance | USDT/USDC within 24h |
| Breakout | Not on list | β | USDC on Ethereum on demand |
| Velotrade | Sanctions-only list | β | USDC/USDT on Arbitrum weekly |
| Mubite | Not restricted; short list | β | USDC, bank or points |
| Klein Funding | No list published | Terms cite England and Wales, blank company number | Bank EUR/USD |
The5ers. Five Percent Online Ltd is registered in London, with an Israeli company of the same name also in its terms. Its crypto offer is only two coins, and every withdrawal carries 3.5%. See the The5ers review.
Breakout. Same programme as Kraken Prop, different storefront, different access: Breakout is open to the UK. Payouts are USDC on Ethereum only. See the Breakout review.
Velotrade. The first two payouts are capped at 20 times the challenge fee. See the Velotrade review.
Klein Funding. A London contact address and terms citing England and Wales, but no company number and no published country list. Treat with care. See the Klein Funding review.
Checklist for UK traders
- Check the firm's name on the FCA Warning List and buy only from its own domain.
- Read the restricted list on the day you buy; Kraken Prop and Breakout show it can differ by storefront.
- Record every payout for Self Assessment.
- Factor in conversion: a USDC payout has to be sold for pounds, while Rise can land in a bank.
- Check accepted KYC documents (passport or driving licence at most firms) before your first payout. See our KYC guide.
Unclear or excluded
Kraken Prop excludes the UK. Crypto Fund Trader, Bitfunded, Klein Funding, WenCrypto, Cointracts, TradeXProp and Dolvero publish no full country list on the pages we read; Dolvero says it is open worldwide except sanctioned jurisdictions. RebelsFunding names nine restricted countries "and others", without the UK.
Trade-offs
A UK-registered operator is reassuring, but it does not mean regulation, and The5ers' crypto range is thin. Crypto-first firms give you more pairs and faster stablecoin payouts but offer no UK-specific protections. Check other countries on the country access page, compare stablecoin rails on the crypto payouts list, or start from the best crypto prop firms.

No firm we track claims FCA authorisation. They sell simulated evaluations, so there is no Ombudsman or compensation scheme route.
How are prop firm payouts taxed in the UK?
UK tax writers generally treat them as income reported through Self Assessment. We found no HMRC guidance specific to prop payouts; ask an accountant.
Is Breakout available in the UK if Kraken Prop is not?
