If you want a free crypto prop firm challenge that can actually pay, BrightFunded's Free $1K Challenge is the only one open to every trader without a purchase or a contest win: one phase, a 10% target and an 80/20 split paid in USDC or euros. For practice, HyroTrader's free trial is the largest, up to $200,000 with no card required. For a shot at a big prize, Crypto Fund Trader's free tournaments award a $200,000 evaluation to each of the top 10.

Eighteen of the 27 active firms we track offer something free. The question that separates them is simple: can the free account withdraw?

Three kinds of free crypto prop firm challenge

  • Free challenges with payout rights. BrightFunded's Free $1K Challenge, plus accounts won or given as bonuses at Mubite, Velotrade and Funded Trader Markets.
  • Free trials. A demo of the paid challenge that never pays. HyroTrader's terms are explicit that trial performance is not eligible for withdrawals. FundingPips, FTMO, E8 Markets, Dolvero, Mubite, RebelsFunding and Propr also offer trials.
  • Competitions. Prizes for the top ranks, usually a paid challenge. Crypto Fund Trader, The5ers, FundingPips, RebelsFunding, Goat Funded Trader, Upscale, Fundedbit and AquaFunded run them.

A fee refund, such as HyroTrader's on its One-Step and Two-Step, is not free: you pay first and get it back later.

Firm Free offer Can it pay out? Key condition
BrightFunded Free $1K Challenge Yes, 80/20 First reward 30 days after first funded trade
Mubite Free accounts from giveaways and BOGO Yes, with lifetime cap 5% of size per FAQ
Velotrade Prize from free Sprint Trading game Yes, limited Same risk rules as paid
Funded Trader Markets Giveaway and game accounts Yes, 80% split Claim within 30 days
Kraken Prop Free challenge entry $1K funded if you pass $200 deposit and $200 traded
HyroTrader Trial up to $200K No No card; one at a time
Crypto Fund Trader Free tournaments Prize is a $200K evaluation Top 10 places
FundingPips Trial and monthly competition Trial: no 14 days per phase

A free trial tests the rules, not the payout. If you pass a trial, you have learned something useful, but you have earned nothing.

Five checks before you sign up

  1. Can it withdraw? Trials never pay. Only free challenges with payout rights and some prizes can.
  2. Is there a cap? Mubite caps lifetime withdrawals from free accounts at 5% of size in its FAQ ($2,500 on $50,000), while its terms of 20 October 2026 multiply that by the split ($2,000 at 80%). Velotrade says its free accounts have a limited split and cap without naming figures.
  3. What does qualifying cost? Kraken's free entry needs a $200 deposit and $200 of trading with your own money.
  4. Is a prize a funded account or another evaluation? Crypto Fund Trader's prize still has to be passed before any payout.
  5. KYC still applies. A free account that reaches a payout goes through the same identity check as a paid one. See the KYC guide.

Trade-offs

BrightFunded has the cleanest payout terms but a slow first reward, 30 days after your first funded trade, and a 6% trailing floor. It is a multi-asset firm, though with 48 crypto pairs. Read the BrightFunded review.

HyroTrader's trial is the best rehearsal for a crypto-first paid challenge: same platform, up to $200,000, no card. It never pays, but it shows you how the static daily limit behaves before you spend $59. See the HyroTrader review.

Crypto Fund Trader's tournaments offer big prizes, but only ten people win, and each still has to pass. The firm also sells a $1 trial of a $1,000 2-Phase, in 500 units. See the Crypto Fund Trader review.

Mubite's free accounts can pay, but the lifetime cap is low and a BOGO bonus account closes if the paid order behind it is refunded or charged back. See the Mubite review.

Firms with no free option, and cheap alternatives

Breakout, Klein Funding, Cointracts, TradeXProp, HyperPNL and SizeProp show no free offer. Bitfunded runs tournaments only for buyers, and PropW's one competition was a single event in Seoul in April 2026.

A cheap paid challenge can cost less than a free one with conditions. WenCrypto's pay-later plan costs $5 upfront for $5,000. See the cheapest crypto prop firms for every low-cost option, or the full best crypto prop firms ranking.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free crypto prop firm challenge that pays out?

Yes. BrightFunded's Free $1K Challenge is open to every trader and pays an 80/20 split in USDC or euros after one phase, with the first reward 30 days after the first funded trade.

Can I withdraw profits from a free trial?

No. Trials are demos of the paid challenge. HyroTrader's terms, for example, say trial performance is not eligible for withdrawals or payouts.

Which firm has the biggest free trial?

HyroTrader, with trial sizes up to $200,000 and no card required. FundingPips' Pro trial also reaches $200,000.

Are competition prizes funded accounts?

Usually not. Crypto Fund Trader's top 10 each win a $200,000 evaluation, which still has to be passed before any payout.
